Sales totals for the 26th annual Mecum Las Vegas Motorcycle Auction, the world’s largest antique and vintage motorcycle auction held Jan. 25-28 at South Point Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, reached $13.7 million, making this year’s auction the most successful motorcycle auction in the event’s history. Selling 868 of the 949 motorcycles up for auction in Las Vegas, Mecum Auctions achieved an impressive 92-percent sell-through rate. Overall sales totals reflect a 53-percent increase in sales compared to Mecum Las Vegas 2016, setting a new benchmark for achieving the highest sales and the highest sell-through rate in the motorcycle auction’s 26-year history.

In an effort to generate enough space to properly display 1,000 motorcycles, this year’s auction was moved from the hotel ballroom into the South Point Arena. It succeeded in not only creating a much more event-like atmosphere, but also went a step further to become the most successful motorcycle-auction atmosphere ever.

Amongst so many successful sales throughout the four-day event, four-cylinder motorcycles proved to be a hot commodity in Las Vegas, with the Henderson marque claiming the top three slots. A 1912 Henderson Four (Lot F129) hammered at $490,000, achieving the title of top seller, one of six four-cylinder examples making the top 10. Other notable motorcycles making it into the top sales at Mecum Las Vegas 2017 include a 1928 Excelsior Big Bertha Hillclimber (Lot S163) and a 1923 Indian Chief (Lot S179) that was formerly owned by Steve McQueen.

The complete top 10 sales at the Mecum Las Vegas 2017 auction include (individual prices do not include buyer’s premiums):

  1. 1912 Henderson Four (Lot F129) at $490,000
  2. 1913 Henderson Four (Lot S163) at $150,000
  3. 1913 Henderson 4-Cylinder Deluxe (Lot S108) at $127,500
  4. 1928 Excelsior Big Bertha Hillclimber (Lot S162) at $117,500
  5. 1949 Vincent Black Shadow (Lot F180) at $110,000
  6. 1923 Indian Chief with Princess Side Car (Lot S179) at $100,000
  7. 1914 Flanders Model D Twin (Lot S111) at $95,000
  8. 1931 Henderson Four (Lot S151) at $95,000
  9. 1929 Cleveland Tornado (Lot T183) at $91,000
  10. 1941 Indian Four (Lot S201) at $90,000
