More than 50 historic Nissan and Datsun race cars will hit the track at Road Atlanta this week to celebrate the brand’s 50-year history of American motorsports success at the 41st HSR Classic Motorsports Mitty presented by Hagerty.
Datsun racing legend John Morton will lead the pack aboard an exact replica of the two-time national championship-winning BRE Datsun 240Z. Morton will serve as the event’s grand marshal this weekend.
Comedian, actor and filmmaker and Nissan/Datsun racing fan Adam Carolla will drive the Bob Sharp Racing Datsun 610. Carolla’s racing collection features a number of the Nissan/Datsun machines raced by the legendary Paul Newman. He also produced a documentary showcasing the racing career of the silver screen legend.
Other historic cars featured across the race weekend will include the Datsun 510 and SRL311 Roadster models. GT-R fans will get to see some unique cars including a 1971 Skyline GT-R C10 and a 2009-model Nissan GT-R used by Mike Skeen to earn rookie of the year honors at the Pikes Peak Hillclimb in 2014.
All of these entries will compete in Saturday’s Nissan/Datsun Feature race, which is scheduled to start at 1:10 p.m. local time. Looking for more details? They can be found at http://hsrrace.com/classic-motorsports-mitty/
