Of all the new vehicles evaluated by the editorial staff of Autotrader.com during the past year, a dozen stood out above the rest – including the all-new 2019 Nissan Altima. The award as one of Autotrader‘s “12 Best New Cars for 2019” was presented April 17th at the 2019 New York International Auto Show.
According to Autotrader, “every car on this list is completely redesigned or an all-new model for this year. They all bring something fresh and innovative compared to their competitors and all have some combination of impressive tech, surprisingly good driving dynamics, strong value or just getting the details exactly right.”
As for the new Altima, the editors wrote: “Altima impresses us with a premium interior that makes you feel like you’re in a much more expensive car, especially in the higher trims. It also has available all-wheel drive, making it stand out compared to the Toyota Camry and Honda Accord. Another thing that makes the new Altima special is the available VC-Turbo variable compression engine, which delivers more power when you need it and more efficiency at cruising speeds.”
The all-new 2019 Altima is offered in a range of trim levels – S, SR, SV, SL and Platinum. All five come equipped with the standard 2.5-liter engine and are available with Intelligent All-Wheel Drive. The starting MSRP1 of $24,000 includes a long list of standard features, including Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™, 8-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, 8.0-inch color display with multi-touch control, Automatic Emergency Braking, Intelligent Forward Collision Warning and Rear Door Alert2.
In addition, the Altima SR and Platinum grades are available with the advanced 2.0-liter VC-Turbo engine (front-wheel drive only). An exclusive Altima Edition ONE launch edition, based on the Platinum VC-Turbo, is offered in limited numbers and comes complete with a first-ever Nissan Concierge service.
“The all-new Altima is establishing quite a collection of important awards, including this latest high honor from Autotrader,” said Scott Shirley, vice president, CMM & Marketing Operations, Nissan North America, Inc. The 2019 Nissan Altima was recently named one of Automobile Magazine’s 2019 All-Stars.
The 2019 Altima offers exclusive Nissan Intelligent Mobility technologies such as the advanced ProPILOT Assist3. It is also the second Nissan model, following the recently launched 2019 Nissan Rogue, to offer Nissan Safety Shield 360 – which includes Automatic Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection, Rear Automatic Braking, Lane Departure Warning, radar-based Blind Spot Warning, Rear Cross Traffic Alert and High Beam Assist.
“A new high-tech turbo engine, the option of all-wheel drive and a host of driver-assist features are part of the reason we added the updated Altima to our list this year,” Autotrader Executive Editor Brian Moody said of the Altima.
