Mecum Auctions, the world’s largest collector-car auction company, is gearing up for its return to the Kansas City Convention Center this March 16-17 to continue one of the company’s longest-running annual auctions. Mecum Kansas City 2018 will mark the company’s 25th year of collector-car auctions in Kansas City, Missouri, and the event is slated to present an estimated 700 American muscle cars, classics, Corvettes, Hot Rods, Resto Mods and more for auction.

Headlining consignments slated for Mecum Kansas City 2018 include a 1968 Shelby GT350 Convertible (Lot S74) that is one of two produced as-equipped, according to the 1968 SAAC Registrar. Delivered new through Northwestern Motor Car Company in Milwaukee as a company car for A.O.

Smith, Shelby No. 02778 remains in highly original condition, and it is also one of just 15 Shelby GT350s produced in 1968 with its specific paint and trim codes.

Other featured offerings slated to cross the block in Kansas City include a restored 1940 Ford Deluxe Convertible (Lot S132) with a 24-stud 239 cubic-inch flathead V-8 engine, a 1970 Pontiac Trans Am (Lot S78) with a 400/366 HP engine and 4-speed transmission, and a mostly original 1966 Ford Mustang Convertible (Lot S68) with a 289 cubic-inch engine.

Mecum Kansas City 2018 is open to buyers, sellers and spectators. Bidder registration is available in advance online for $100, $200 after March 15, and includes admission for two for all auction days. General admission tickets are available in advance online for $20 per person, per day, and for $30 online and at the gate after March 15; children 12 and younger receive complimentary admission. Doors open daily at 8 a.m., with the vehicle auction beginning at 11 a.m. Mecum Kansas City 2018 will be broadcast on Facebook Live from 11:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, March 16 and 17, featuring hosts John Kraman, Scott Hoke and Katie Osbourne. A live auctioneer stream of the entire auction will also be presented at Mecum.com.
