Mecum Auctions, the world’s largest collector-car auction company, will return to Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, Aug. 2-4 at the Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex with an estimated 1,000 classic and collector cars expected to cross the auction block. This is the fifth year that Mecum Auctions has staged a collector-car auction in Harrisburg, with last year’s event generating $21 million in sales after drawing bidders from 41 states.
Among the featured lots consigned for Mecum Harrisburg 2018 are a 2017 Dodge Viper ACR Dealer Edition (Lot S93), a pair of 4-speed ’63 Ford Galaxie 500s (Lots F63 and F64) to be offered at no reserve, a 2006 Ford GT (Lot S133) and a 1959 Mercedes-Benz 190SL Roadster (Lot S108). Others include a rare bench-seat-equipped 4-speed 1967 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 (Lot S98) that won Concours Gold at last year’s Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals and was also awarded Senior Grand National in 2016 by the AACA, as well as a custom-built 1966 Ford Bronco (Lot S88) that was selected as a Top 21 Finalist in the SEMA Battle of the Builders and was featured in “Truck Trend” in November 2016.
Four collections comprising nearly 80 consignments will provide a wide variety of options for collectors. The Special Early Bird Offering at No Reserve consists of more than 30 lots of a variety of American muscle cars, classics, pickup trucks and newer luxury rides that will begin the auction day on Friday, August 3. An equally diverse assemblage of consignments from the Peery Family Collection includes 11 vehicles that the consignor describes as “a bit of a cross-section” of classics and customs, with everything from a ’63 Split Window Corvette (Lot S54) and a 1971 Dodge Challenger R/T (Lot S52) to a 1941 Chevrolet Monster Truck (Lot S53).
The auction’s headlining North East Collection includes 18 lots, with nine at no reserve, of a variety of muscle cars, classics, Street Rods and pickup trucks slated to be offered on Friday, August 3. Saturday will see The Prior Barris East Coast Representative’s Collection cross the auction block, which consists of 23 lots. Among them are memorable vehicles such as a 1966 Batmobile (Lot S142) that is one of five known promotional Batmobiles created by the Barris Group, a 1964 Drag-U-La (Lot S148) that was initially constructed by Dick Dean in 1964 for “The Munsters” TV show and debuted in the episode “Hot Rod Herman,” and a 1965 Aston Martin DB5 (Lot S141) that was created as a special effects promotional vehicle.
