Mecum Auctions, the world’s largest collector-car auction company, will return to Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, August 3-5 at the Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex with an estimated 1,000 classic and collector cars on offer. This year’s lineup will be highlighted by an unprecedented selection of high-quality American muscle cars among the vast array of offerings including Corvettes, Hot Rods, Resto Mods, classics and more.
This is the fourth year that Mecum Auctions has staged a collector-car auction in Harrisburg, and the event continues to be a regional and even national draw among collector-car enthusiasts with consignors and buyers expected from more than 25 states.
Among the main attractions consigned for Mecum Harrisburg 2017 is a 1969 Mercury Cougar XR-7 Convertible (Lot S118) in special-order Tahoe Turquoise with just 3,518 original miles, and a 1969 Dodge Daytona (Lot S91) that has a 440 CI V-8 engine, a 727 TorqueFlite transmission and features the rare Q5 Bright Turquoise Metallic with white wing combination exterior and the C6W White interior. The Daytona was sold new in Monroeville, Pennsylvania, and today shows just 33,000 believed-original miles and is accompanied by the original build sheet and invoice.
Immediately following the Daytona’s offering will be a 1970 Plymouth Hemi Superbird (Lot S92) that is one of just 58 Hemi Superbirds produced with a four-speed transmission. The well-documented consignment includes the original window sticker and two broadcast sheets following a restoration completed in 2002. The 426/425 HP Hemi V-8 engine has just 17,000 original miles.
Other main attractions to Mecum Harrisburg 2017 include a selection of nine Mustangs from The Waterford Collection; among the group is a 1970 Ford Mustang Mach 1 Fastback (Lot S125) that recently benefited from a nut-and-bolt rotisserie restoration with an emphasis on as-delivered condition using NOS components whenever possible. A collection of seven Fords of various desirable models from the estate of Michael Picone will also be offered in Harrisburg, all at no reserve.
