Mazda Motorsports and SCCA Enterprises jointly announced at the annual Performance Racing Industry (PRI) trade show that the two organizations will work together to increase entries, contingencies and future opportunities for racers in Formula Enterprises (FE) cars. Currently, there are more than 100 FE cars throughout the nation, all of which run the Mazda 2.3L MZR motors.
The recent announcement confirmed that Mazda Motorsports will support FE in three ways:
1. The 2017 FE SCCA National Runoffs Champion will be eligible for nomination to the Mazda Road to Indy Shootout in 2017;
2. With contingency support from Mazda Motorsports, SCCA Enterprises will increase its contingency offering in 2017 to provide both a parts credit and a cash contingency to the top 10 FE finishers participating in the SCCA Super Tour races;
3. Due to the competitiveness of the national class, Mazda Motorsports will provide PR and marketing support to many of its drivers, as they climb the Mazda Road to Indy ladder.
