A golf tournament is being hosted by the Laguna Seca Raceway Foundation, a 501(c)3 organization separate from the County of Monterey-owned WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca, which was formed to complement enhancement projects at the world-renowned race track. The Laguna Seca Raceway Foundation (LSRF) was formed to direct and raise funds toward key projects at the raceway that provide infrastructure upgrades and amenities to keep it a viable destination for racers and fans worldwide. Every dollar donated to the fund is tax-deductible and will contribute toward upgrades at the race track that has been bringing fans to Monterey since 1957.
Golf and motorsports — two pillars of tourism that bring hundreds of thousands of visitors to Monterey County every year — come together for the inaugural Monterey Speed Week Legends of Laguna Seca Golf Tournament on Wednesday, September 18.
The tournament takes place at The Club at Pasadera, the only Jack Nicklaus Signature golf course on the Monterey Peninsula, and will commemorate the inaugural Monterey Speed Week. Monterey Speed Week is a weeklong festivity of high-speed thrills and events that begins with the penultimate round of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship on September 13-15 that will bring the best prototype and GT racers from America’s top sports car series to WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca while celebrating IMSA’s 50th anniversary.
The following weekend, Indy cars return to Monterey for the first time in 15 years with the NTT IndyCar Series hosting the season finale at the Firestone Grand Prix of Monterey on September 20-22. Throw in an INDYCAR open test day on Thursday, September 19, several activities surrounding the events and live broadcasts on NBC each Sunday, and you can see why the racing community will draw its focus to WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca this September.
The Monterey Speed Week Legends of Laguna Seca Golf Tournament will be part of the fun-filled week. It is a chance to honor and tee off with current racers and some of the legendary names who have been part of many unforgettable moments during the 62 years of racing at the 11-turn, 2.238-mile road course.
The Club at Pasadera features a dazzling convergence of land and water on diverse terrain with dazzling cliffs and white sand beaches. Much like the WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca road course, the elevation changes on the property at The Club at Pasadera (375 feet) provide players with spectacular views and unique challenges. The club. which opened in 2008, is thriving under new ownership.
The tournament takes place on Wednesday, September 18, with registration at 11 a.m. and shotgun at 1 p.m. Those interested in playing or sponsorship may contact Connor Barr at [email protected] or 408-712-7794.
