IS TURNING A TRUCK BED INTO A POOL THE BEST WAY TO BEAT THE HEAT?

A new decision tree from GMPartsOnline.net helps heavy duty truck owners make the crucial decision about whether or not to create a truck-bed swimming pool for this year’s block party. If the temperatures are surging and the gang’s enjoying some beers while eyeing that pickup on blocks or there’s a sea lion emergency that requires an across-town ride, a truck-bed pool might seem like a reasonable solution. This step-by-step chart guides truck owners through the many important questions that must be asked before adding a liner and grabbing the hose.

“There’s a Netflix movie out now with a hilarious truck pool scene,” says Angel Vigil, director of GMPartsOnline.net. “The truck-bed pool is more myth and legend than reality, and I think the majority of us have never had the opportunity to relax in the bed of a truck filled with water. We started asking one another under what circumstances would this be a good idea and decided to share it with everyone.”

During the height of summer, many people look for ways to cool off, so the decision tree helps truck owners make an educated decision before adding water. Here’s a few of the questions they must consider:

  • Is your truck a 3500HD or better? Only these trucks are capable of holding that amount of water.
  • Is there a drought in your area?
  • Did someone triple dog dare you to fill the truck bed?

“If your leaf springs, shock absorbers, or other suspension parts need to be replaced, take at look at our inventory,” Vigil says. “Water weighs 8 pounds per gallon, so if you’re creating a truck-bed pool it’s likely you’ll need some replacement parts.”
