Recent rumors around the internet make claims that a future Toyota Tundra model could receive it’s power from a Cummins 5.0 Liter Diesel Engine. This is said to be the same 5.0 Cummins Diesel as the Nisssan Titan pickup. It is unknown if this is fact or rumor – we can’t get verification from our industry resources.
We do have to ask, why wouldn’t Toyota use the 4.5 liter twin turbo diesel V8 used in the Land Cruiser?
We’ve seen 4-cylinder Cummins Diesels installed in modified Ford Rangers and VW TDI engines installed in modified Geo Trackers, but a factory Cummins in two Japanese trucks in the same segment? We think it’s highly unlikely, but time will tell.
