Mecum Auctions’ Gone Farmin’, the largest vintage-tractor auction company, will return to the Mississippi Valley Fair Center in Davenport, Iowa, Nov. 9-11, for its 2017 Iowa Premier auction. The auction is set to feature 500 vintage tractors ready to cross the block—the most tractors Gone Farmin’ has ever brought to auction—along with 300 rare signs and farm relics.
Steel-wheel enthusiasts will swoon over the 1913 Minneapolis 40-80 (Lot F40). The “Big 40” is one of the most complete and correct early Minneapolis 40-80 tractors in the world. This one-of-a-kind find is in amazing condition and still maintains most of its original equipment. A sensational Aultman-Taylor 30-60 (Lot F44) will also cross the block. Coined “Old Trusty,” the 30-60s boasted giant power and strong endurance. This is a topnotch example of an Aultman-Taylor 30-60 and would be a dynamic addition to any tractor collection. If you’re looking to add muscle to your collection, a 1966 Farmall 1206 (Lot F50) star attraction is a prime choice.
In addition to the featured star consignments, there will be 14 private collections offered at the Iowa Premier. More than 100 tractors and 50 signs and relics from Emmett Cole’s Midwest Classics Museum will be brought to auction. Other tractor collections include more than 20 tractors from the Blume Collection, eight stunning Internationals from the Barn Creek Collection and a group of five beautifully restored Ford tractors from the David J. Smith Collection.
Along with an impressive group of vintage tractors, more than 300 rare signs and farm relics will be offered on Thursday and Friday. Included in this selection are early advertising lithographs such as the colorful Aultman-Taylor lithograph (Lot M5) and relics from a special collection presented by Kim and Mary Kokles, which will be offered on Friday, Nov. 10. An extraordinary McCormick Farm Machines and Implements smalt paint sign (Lot M102), along with other International signs from the Yates Collection will also be presented.
A customer appreciation event will be held from 5-8 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 9 at the Mississippi Valley Fair Center. Food will be provided and live music will be performed by Back Country Roads.
